Positioning social justice and decent work in the UN
The entire UN system has been called upon to support countries in providing decent work opportunities for all women and men as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. To assist other UN entities in these efforts, the ILO plays an active role in the UN coordination, supporting system-wide coherence through participation in several key mechanisms and working groups at various levels.
At the global level, the ILO actively participates in the Chief Executives Board (CEB), which comprises the High-Level Committee on Programmes (HLCP) and the High-Level Committee on Management (HLCM), as well as in the United Nations Sustainable Development Group (UNSDG).
These mechanisms allow the ILO to be part of the UN system's broader guidance, coordination, and strategic direction while ensuring its independent mandate is maintained.
At the regional level, the ILO engages in the Regional Collaborative Platforms (RCP).
It is also involved in different UN processes, at the country level, including through the Resident Coordinator Offices and UNCTs.
The ILO also actively engages in several other key interagency processes and partnerships, the ILO contributing to a more coherent UN.
