The ILO team accompanied by Dr Nicole Malpas from the European Union were exploring the opportunities to assist the BSCIC in establishing links with the newly strengthened skills development system in the country. The visit was organised by Mr A H Khan, Chairman of the BSCIC, which has more than seventy-four industrial estates and fifteen skills development centres around the country. There is considerable scope for adoption of the National Skills Development Policy by the BSCIC and its industry partners to enhance quality of training and certification of workers. Apprenticeship, recognition of prior learning, instructor training and adoption of courses under the National Technical and Vocational Qualification Framework were among the topics discussed.
