“Launch of the National Steering Committee for Pay Equity” - Amman, Jordan - 25 July 2011

The launch event will bring together tripartite constituents who will jointly decide and agree on the Committee’s mandate and membership, key desired results and next steps. Technical sub-committees on legal and research issues will be also formed during the launch. The tripartite plus National Steering Committee for Pay Equity will follow-up and take the lead in coordinating and implementing the Action Plan for Pay Equity in Jordan, as well as coordinate activities aimed at achieving pay equity for equal value of work. The Committee will be co-chaired by the Ministry of Labour and the Jordanian National Commission for Women JNCW. This will be the first step towards creating a strong institutional framework for action on pay equity in Jordan. It will be followed by further collaboration between ILO, MoL, JNCW and other Jordanian partners working on promoting pay equity in the country.
