In the framework of the project “COVID-19 response to vulnerable populations and frontline workers in Belize” being implemented by the United Nations (UN), the International Labour Organization (ILO) is supporting a bipartite public awareness campaign for safe, healthy and resilient workplaces during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The support comes as a specific response to national partners who recognized the importance of focusing on Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) in order to realize a safe and healthy return to work and participate in efforts to help prevent a second wave of contagion while Belize shapes its new and better normal. Consequently, the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) and the National Trade Union Congress of Belize (NTUCB) are the main partners in implementing the campaign. The ILO support is a targeted and topical intervention aimed at fostering bipartite dialogue, building trust and producing results while the businesses operate and reopen in a COVID-19 climate.

Featuring a series of nine television, radio, and print public service announcements, the campaign will run across national broadcasters and newspapers until the end of January 2021. Also included are guidance pamphlets and infographics that have been distributed to workers’ and employers’ organizations across Belize.
