Training workshop on labour inspection strategies: Innovations in planning and implementation for modernization and sustainability
Context:
This training workshop is organized within the framework of the ILO project "Consolidation of progress of the Regional Initiative Latin America and the Caribbean Free of Child Labour.” The project provides targeted support particularly for the Caribbean Member Countries of the Regional Initiative. It is also part of a wider ILO-Brazil South-South Cooperation Program which makes it possible to share the Brazilian experience in data generation, labour inspection and local inter-sectoral coordination as part of active national policies to combat child labour. The workshop which will be led by technical officials from the Ministry of Labour of Brazil and the ILO Caribbean and Brazil offices, is part of support for the modernization of labour inspection processes in Suriname, seeking to increase the knowledge and capacity of labour inspectors and other key stakeholders (including employers and workers organisations). It will address some of the proactive strategies and training interventions that Brazil uses to enhance compliance with national labour laws and international obligations, including in the fight against child labour.
