ILO meeting calls for sustainable civil aviation industry
On 20-22 February 2013, the ILO organized a “Global Dialogue Forum on the Effects of the Global Economic Crisis on the Civil Aviation Industry”. Participants at the forum discussed how to promote sustainability and decent work in the civil aviation industry.
Governments, employers and workers agreed that the ILO has a key role to play in facilitating social dialogue in the civil aviation industry, while governments are required as regulators of the industry.
European sectoral social partners jointly prepared the forum at a meeting convened in January 2013 under the auspices of the European Commission.
They defined several points of consensus, such as an expression of their concern of unfair competition, and calls for respect of fundamental social rights, for establishing a global framework against social dumping, for enhancing the fight against violence.
