This training manual is targeted to domestic workers’ organizations, civil society, not for profit organizations and other entities that provide skills trainings to domestic workers. Initially intended for domestic workers working in the Middle East, the manual may be useful also outside the intended geographical scope.

The aim of the manual is to empower domestic workers with new skills in the area of childcare through five modules covering the physical, cognitive and emotional development of children, in addition to how to establish and manage a daycare facility.

The training serves to empower workers by increasing their skills in childcare and expand the employment opportunities available to workers through enabling their career progression towards higher complexity tasks within the care sector. The manual is also intended to build the capacity of domestic workers’ organizations and NGOs working with domestic workers to establish care centres for their members with a view to increasing their chances of engaging in full-time remunerated employment.
