Work with trade unions aims at increasing the membership and voice of women. For instance, in the occupied Palestinian territory, a recently concluded awareness campaign resulted in the increase of membership to the General Federation of Trade Unions, including 1200 women. In Jordan, teachers working in the private education sector, organised under the Stand up with Teachers’ Campaign and with trade unions, employers and workers, successfully negotiated a collective bargaining agreement for the sector which recognises the principles of gender equality at work. This effort also led to the establishment of a ministerial order making electronic payments of salaries mandatory to ensure a more transparent process.
