Online Discussion on Preliminary Findings of the Analysis of the Future of Work in Mongolia: Tripartite Responses

This meeting is organized to discuss preliminary findings and recommendations of a study on the Future of Work in Mongolia with social partners within the framework of the ILO project on Promoting Formal Employment for Inclusive and Diversified Economic Growth in Mongolia (MNG/18/01/RBS).

The ILO Centenary Declaration for the Future of Work (FoW) was adopted at the International Labour Conference held in Geneva in 2019. The Declaration provides ILO members with a set of policy recommendations in response to the impact of the changing world of work, embracing the positive effect and tackling the negative effects of a future of work.

In this context, the Mongolian Employers' Federation (MONEF) and the Confederation of Mongolian Trade Unions (CMTU) aim at raising awareness among their members about the ILO Centenary Declaration; analysing the impact of the FoW in the context of Mongolia; facilitating a dialogue among tripartite constituents and influencing the national economic and social policy development through targeted research and advocacy.  To support this joint initiative, the ILO Country Office commissioned the study to analyse the responsiveness of Mongolia's policies and programmes to the Future of Work's mega trends (e.g., technological innovation, global economic integration, demographic shifts, and environmental change) and related skills demands under technical support from ILO ACTRAV and ACT/EMP in Bangkok.

SICA Research institute will present preliminary findings and recommendations of the study to representatives of MONEF and CMTU. This study report will serve as a background material for a tripartite forum on the FoW in Mongolia.
