In partnership with the Federation for Egyptian Industries (FEI), the ILO launched on Tuesday October 22nd the 3rd cycle of the Human Resources & Gender Academy.

To date, the Academy has trained more than 50 human resources managers and personnel from over 40 companies serving more than 7000 indirect beneficiaries. This cycle that was organized in Alexandria for the first time trained over 20 participants from companies of varying sizes. Participants expressed their expectations that the Academy would help them address and overcome some of the enterprise level challenges they face pertaining to high labour turnover, professionalizing labour relations and increasing their compliance with national labour legislation.

The Academy is just one of the activities the ILO supports the FEI with and is testimony of the strong partnership between both institutions. This support to the FEI is provided through the ILO’s “Decent Work for Women in Egypt and Tunisia” project, a development cooperation programme funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland. It builds on the ILO's commitment to gender equality for over 100 years now, and the adaptation of its agenda to make sure it is aligned with new necessities and trends. The Federation of Egyptian Industries - Egypt’s employers’ organization - represents 20 industrial chambers and 60,000 industrial enterprises, accounting for more than seven million workers and 20% of the national economy.
