Impact of Trade on Employment

(a) What the literature says about Trade and Employment in general and specifically in Asia and Myanmar
(b) Trade agreements, Trade and labour market reform in Myanmar
(c) Potential policy areas for future

In general, from this presentation, one can understand the relationship between trade and employment in theory and also in Asia and Myanmar. And it can get some information about Myanmar’s trade structure and Myanmar labour market reform. Finally, the researcher pointed out the following potential policy areas for the future to get the most benefits from the impact of trade on employment.
• A broadening of the productive base would provide added stability and a source of employment for the many people who are currently engaged as surplus rural workers or low paying informal activities
• Supporting technological upgrading in firms can get the demand for the creation of quality jobs and improvements to working conditions to be achieved.
