Important changes to the Rules of the Tribunal

At its plenary session held on 9 May 2023, the Tribunal adopted several amendments to its Rules.

There are a few major changes:
- In Article 4, the Tribunal clarified the terms of Article VII, paragraph 3, of the Statute;
- In Article 6, it included references to applications for execution, interpretation and review. It also introduced a limit to the length of written submissions (25 pages for the complaint brief and reply; 10 pages for the rejoinder and surrejoinder) and specified that all annexes must be numbered sequentially and separately identified;
- In Article 7, it introduced the possibility of contacting the organization concerned before a decision is taken by the President of the Tribunal on the use of the summary procedure;
- In Article 13, it modified the procedure regarding applications to intervene.

The Registry is in the process of preparing a new version of the Rules incorporating the recent amendments for publication on the Tribunal’s website.
The changes introduced will be effective as of the date of publication of the new version of the Rules.
