ILO Tokyo and JETRO sign agreement to strengthen collaboration on co-research

TOKYO (ILO NEWS) – ILO Office for Japan and the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) signed an agreement to create a framework to enhance the further collaboration on co-research in the theme of business and human rights.  
In the framework, the agencies conduct research in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Viet Nam and Japan. The research examines good practices of human rights and due diligence, in which companies identify and address to whether there is a risk of human rights violations in their corporate activities and value chains.

The research will cover the textile, apparel, electrical and electronic equipment, and other industries Interviews will also be conducted with local government, labour, employers and other stakeholders.

This agreement and its joint survey are part of the the ILO Tokyo’s project "Building Responsible Value Chains in Asia", funded by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan. A joint report is planned to publish in summer 2023.
