ILO Seminar: Child Labour Now & Achieving SDGs (12/7)

~What Action Can We Take?

Target 8.7 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), set out by the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, globally calls for ending forced labour, modern slavery and human trafficking by 2030, and by 2025, eradicating child labour in all its forms.

The Global estimates of child labour and modern slavery were published in September 2017, and the IV Global Conference on the Sustained Eradication of Child Labour was held in Buenos Aires in November 2017. The Conference successfully concluded with the adoption of the Buenos Aires Declaration which spelled out principles and actions which we should take to end child labour.

Seizing the momentum, ILO Office for Japan will host a public seminar to provide a forum to better understand and discuss child labour issues in the world. Mr. Francesco d’Ovidio, Head, Solutions and Innovation Unit, Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work Branch, ILO HQ, Geneva, will address the seminar as main speaker.
