Samoan Government officials enhance their knowledge & professional skills on reporting on International Labour Standards

Part of a series of capacity building trainings to ensure ILO Pacific constituents are upskilled on the best practices of planning and preparing ILS reports.

APIA, Samoa (ILO News) - Member States are obligated to report periodically to the ILO on the progress of implementation on International Labour Standards (ILS) they ratify. The reporting obligations is part of the ILO supervisory system to enable the ILO to regularly examine the application of ILS by member States and identify areas where they could be better applied.

During a mission to Samoa from 17- 21 October. A training workshop was convened on 19 October with the Samoan Government officials from the Ministry if Commerce, Industry, & Labour to enhance their knowledge & professional skills on reporting on ILS, in preparation for Samoa’s 2023 ILS reporting obligation. ILO Pacific remains committed to assist our member States in the Pacific to not only comply with their ILS reporting obligations on a timely manner but also be well versed in planning and process of drafting ILS report(s).

The training workshop is part of a series of capacity building being rolled out by ILO Pacific to ensure our constituents are upskilled on the best practices of planning and preparing ILS reports. The capacity development is funded through the project title: Promoting implementation of International Labour Standards in Pacific Islands Countries funded by the Commonwealth of Australia government, Attorney General’s Department.
