  3. Awareness workshop on capacity building on OHS and HIV policy - Fiji

    8 - 9 November 2012

    Fiji Corrections Services Northern Division will have a awareness workshop on capacity building on OHS and HIV policy (Recommendation 200) on the 8th and 9th November in Labasa, Fiji.The overall aim of the Policy is to provide guidelines on reducing the transmission of HIV and AIDS and give appropriate care and support to personnel, their dependents and inmates infected and affected by HIV and AIDS through comprehensive, relevant, effective, coordinated, and accessible services in cooperation and collaboration with government, non-governmental organizations and other partners.

    The International Labour Organization Office for Pacific Island Countries is convening a seminar on Establishing a new PNG National Employment Policy to be held in Port Moresby, PNG on the 1 November, 2012.

  1. Labour Law Reform in Papua New Guinea

    31 October - 2 November 2012

    Papua New Guinea’s existing Decent Work Country Programme prioritises the completion and implementation of labour law reform, and in particular, the passage of the Industrial Relations Bill and revisions to the Employment Act.

  2. Reforming the Employment Act in PNG Mentoring Workshop

    The International Labour Organization Office for Pacific Island Countries is convening a mentoring workshop on reforming the Employment Act in PNG to be held in Port Moresby, PNG on the 30 Ocotber, 2012.

  3. Presentation on Human Capital – A Driving Force for Business Growth

    The ILO once again was asked to make a presentation at the Fiji Human Resource Institute (FHRI) 6th National Convention 2012. The FHRI is the national leader in promoting Human Resources development in increasing the level of performance and productivity and is affiliated with the Australian Human Resources Institute.

  4. Pacific Island Workplaces Combatting HIV and AIDS Project launched

    21 October 2012

    The ILO/SPC HIV Project was launched on the 22 October by the Deputy Secretary for the Ministry of Labour, Fiji, Mr Osea Cawaru.

  5. PNG Employers’ and Workers’ sign Memoradum of Agreement on HIV& AIDS in the workplace

    15 - 19 October 2012

    The ILO initiated the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) by the PNG Employers Federation and Trade Union Congress.

  6. Solomon Islands works towards a national HIV policy

    Nation wide training programmes to raise awareness on the stigma and discrimination associated with HIV and build-capacity within different public sector organizations

  7. ILO participates in the Pacific Island Forum Disability Ministers Meeting

    3 - 4 October 2012

    The 2nd Pacific Island Forum Disability Ministers’ Meeting was held in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, 3-4 October 2012, with the theme of ‘Progressing Disability Inclusive Development’.

  1. Disability Workshop on Convention (No. 159) on Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (Disabled Persons) for Pacific Island Governments

    5 - 7 September 2012

    The ILO in partnership with the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat are planning to hold a regional meeting on Convention 1983 (No. 159) on Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (Disable Persons). This meeting is tentatively scheduled from 5th - 7th September 2012.

  1. Seasonal Worker Program Conference 2012 -Australia

    31 July - 2 August 2012

    The program builds on the Pacific Seasonal Worker Pilot Scheme and will provide a shot in the arm to industries facing seasonal labour shortages. While horticulture remains the focus of the program, a targeted three-year trial will run in the aquaculture, cane, cotton and accommodation industries.
