Sokoine University Graduate Entrepreneurs Cooperative (SUGECO) is a youth agribusiness incubator established since 2011 to promote youth engagement in agriculture and agribusiness value chains. It is based at Sokoine University of agriculture (SUA) in Morogoro Tanzania. SUGECO’s work is centred on instigating and nurturing entrepreneurship in agribusiness, enhancing skills development, technology transfer and provision of space for innovation ecosystem to bridge the agribusiness skills gap in Tanzania. In its quest to create competent human resource for agribusiness sector, SUGECO has reached over 4,000 young agribusiness actors/aspirants at various nodes of value chains, responding to market demand, productivity gap and youth unemployment challenges.

The solution focuses on upgrading of SUGECO Agribusiness Innovation Hub (SAIH) to support multi-skills development and learning in agribusiness ecosystem for on job skills demand to youth and women. The aim is to upgrade and create one stop Agribusiness Innovation ecosystem centre for skills development to create competent human capital in agriculture. SUGECO envisions a unique hands-on training through SAIH as strongest tools for agribusiness skills enhancement, youth self-employment and bridging the gap between the trainers and the industry.
