    IsDB-ILO Youth Green Skills Accelerator Challenge Call – From crises to resilience: Empowering Youth for a Greener Future

    In recognition of the need to empower young people to advocate for green economies and societies, even in the context of disasters, and to transform their activism, dedication, and creativity into tangible actions, IsDB and ILO are organizing the second edition of the "IsDB-ILO Youth Green Skills Accelerator Challenge Call 2023: From Crises to Resilience: Empowering Youth for a Greener Future." The main goal of this call is to foster youth engagement and equip them with essential skills for green jobs, helping communities recover and thrive in the face of crises.

    Empowering the Green Workforce: Education and Skills for a Just Transition

    The Greening Education Partnership (GEP) is a global initiative launched at the UN Transforming Education Summit in 2022 to equip every learner with the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes to address climate change and promote sustainable development. An impressive number of over 700 partner organisations pledged their commitments to GEP. The panel session will discuss how skills development, education, training and lifelong learning can contribute to the green transition, and how to align the GEP efforts with the guiding principles of a just transition. This session will bring together UNESCO as GEP coordinator and selected active partner agencies of the GEP, including the ILO, IRENA and UNICEF to exchange insights and explore ways to work together through the partnership on greening education and skills development

    Innovation in skills financing for a just transition

    A panel of experts will discuss how investment in skills development can drive sustainable growth and resilience, contributing to a just transition. It will share insights on innovative financing practices and examples that can foster skills development and how these can be effectively implemented and scaled up. The session aims to inspire dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders, encouraging them to invest in skills development and lifelog learning, and innovate funding modalities as a key strategy for a just and green transformation.

    In collaboration with the Turakana County Government in Kenya, ILO PROSPECTS supported paving of the Lodwar Fresh Produce Market using cobblestone technology generating jobs and providing apprenticeships to locals and refugees.
