On the right track: Training toolkit on HIV/AIDS for the railway sector

Instructional material | 01 March 2010
Railway workers are at particular risk of HIV infection because of the nature and conditions of their work. Following on from the successful similar toolkit developed for the road transport sector, the ILO, jointly with the International Union of Railways and International Transport Workers’ Federation developed and published a toolkit for training policy-makers, managers and workers in the railway industry on HIV/AIDS prevention, including change in behaviour, counselling and testing, care and support. This toolkit was validated in 2009 through a tripartite workshop in India. The toolkit is based on the ILO Code of Practice on HIV/AIDS and the world of work and on a set of guidelines for the transport sector.
