ILO and WHO enhance partnership in monitoring workers’ health
The ILO and the WHO signed an Agreement on the collaboration for the development of a joint methodology for estimating the work-related burden of disease and injury and preparation of corresponding estimates.
The Agreement aims to share common goals and objectives regarding safety and health at work and seeks to improve the measurement and monitoring of the health impacts of occupational risk factors in support of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, especially SDG target 3. 9 (by 2030 substantially reduce the number of deaths and illnesses from hazardous chemicals and air, water, and soil pollution and contamination) and 8.8 (protect labor rights and promote safe and secure working environments of all workers, including migrant workers, particularly women migrants, and those in precarious employment).
