Tanzania 19-20 August 2002 (National Dialogue)

The first National Dialogue was opened by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, His Excellency Benjamin W. Mkapa in Dar er Salaam.

It brought together key stakeholders for Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar. Participants came from the public sector (public servants and politicians), the business sector, labour and civil society (academia, religious bodies and NGOs).

The purpose of the Dialogue was to enhance national understanding of the process of globalization and its implications and to contribute to rethinking the types of policy response that would make globalization more inclusive.
