Committee on Legal Issues and International Labour Standards

LILS

FOURTH ITEM ON THE AGENDA

Possible improvement in the standard-setting
activities of the ILO

1. At its 273rd Session (November 1998), the Governing Body decided to include on the agenda of this session of the Committee on Legal Issues and International Labour Standards an item concerning the reform of the questionnaire that initiates the standard-setting process.(1)

2. Given the scope of this issue, it would seem more appropriate to continue discussions with a view to preparing a document which can sufficiently well cover all the aspects relating to possible improvements of the standard-setting activities of the ILO. The Office could undertake consultations with the constituents in order to submit a first document on this matter at the 277th Session of the Governing Body (March 2000).

Geneva, 25 October 1999.
