PROPOSAL PROVIDERS OF SERVICES FOR OWN HOUSEHOLD CONSUMPTION
 



    The proposal is to classify (self-employed) persons who provide unpaid services to their own household:

    (a) occupational group corresponding to their sole or most important activity, for example together with housekeepers (5121), cooks (5122), nannies (5131), aids in nursing homes (5133), car drivers (8322), domestic cleaners (9131), hand launderers (9132), hand pressers (9132), window cleaners (9142) or vehicle washers (9142);
    (b) or in a new occupational group, which could look as follows:


    MINOR GROUP 517 PROVIDERS OF SERVICES FOR OWN HOUSEHOLD CONSUMPTION

    Providers of services for own household consumption perform various kinds of work related to general family care, bearing and rearing of children, home maintenance and health care, which are necessary for creating, sustaining and supporting the human resource capital.

    Tasks performed usually include: organising, supervising and carrying out housekeeping functions; planning, organising, preparing and cooking foodstuffs; serving food and beverages; taking care of children and overseeing their daily activities; providing personal care for other household members in need of care; purchasing equipment, raw materials (including food), products and supplies for the household; cleaning and maintaining dwelling and garden, clothes and durables; transporting household members; and performing various other domestic duties. Supervision of other workers may be included.

    Occupations in this minor group are classified into the following unit group:

    7450 PROVIDERS OF SERVICES FOR OWN HOUSEHOLD CONSUMPTION


    Providers of services for own household consumption organise, supervise and carry out housekeeping functions, plan, organise, prepare and cook foodstuffs, serve food and beverages, take care of children and oversee their daily activities, provide personal care for other household members in need of care, purchase equipment, raw materials, products and supplies for the household, clean and maintain dwelling, clothes and durables, transport household members, and perform various other domestic duties.

    Tasks include -

    (a) organising, supervising and carrying out housekeeping functions;
    (b) planning, organising, preparing, cooking and serving meals and refreshments;
    (c) assisting children to bath, dress and feed themselves, go to school, make homework and play;
    (d) assisting other household members in need of care to get in and out of bed, to take their bath and toilet and necessary medicaments, and similar care;
    (e) purchasing equipment, food and various other household supplies;
    (f) sweeping, vacuum-cleaning, polishing, washing and maintaining floors and furniture, windows, vehicles and other household durables;
    (g) washing, ironing and mending linen and other textiles;
    (h) washing dishes;
    (i) driving cars or other vehicles to transport household members;
    (j) performing related tasks;
    (k) supervising other workers.
