6121 DAIRY AND LIVESTOCK PRODUCERS

Dairy and livestock producers plan and carry out the
necessary operations to breed, raise and tend livestock such
as cattle, sheep, pigs, goats, horses, dogs or cats to be used
as working, sporting, or pet animals, as well as for meat, milk,
hair, hides and other products, for sale or delivery on a
regular basis to wholesale buyers, marketing organisations or at
markets.
Tasks include -
(a) determining kinds and amounts of livestock and livestock
products to be produced;
(b) purchasing animals, producing and purchasing fodder and
other supplies;
(c) renting or investing in grazing land, buildings, equipment
and machinery;
(d) breeding, raising and tending livestock;
(e) milking animals and shearing sheep;
(f) killing and skinning animals, and preparing animals or
animal products for market;
(g) storing and carrying out some basic processing of their
produce;
(h) maintaining farm buildings, machinery and equipment;
(i) delivering or marketing farm products;
(j) performing related tasks;
(k) supervising other workers.
