ILO and Finland sign cooperation agreement on Trade for Decent Work

On Monday 19 July, the International Labour Organization has signed a cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland to further support the application of the ILO Fundamental Conventions in EU trading partner countries through improved labour relations and working conditions.

Japan supports ILO and Mozambique in socio-economic recovery after cyclone Idai

The Government of Japan has contributed US$ 545,454 to ILO’s response to cyclone devastation in Mozambique. This support will help restore damaged rural roads and create local jobs, providing better access and improving resilience in the Manica province.

Voluntary HIV Counselling and Testing (VCT) at work in Mozambique: Public-Private Partnership

Since 2006 the International Labour Organization (ILO) has been supporting stakeholders in the world of work to better respond to HIV and AIDS in Mozambique. Actions encompass scaling up access to HIV prevention and care through the workplace, increasing the demand for VCT, taking into account the gender-specific needs of women and men, and economically empowering women, young people and people working in the informal economy who are particularly vulnerable to HIV.

Technical cooperation activities to Combat Child Labour in Portuguese Speaking Countries in Africa, Brazil and Timor-Leste (CPLP): Public-Private Partnership

In the framework of this programme, the Caixa Geral de Depósitos (CGD) agreed with ILO Lisbon to fund technical cooperation activities to combat child labour in CPLP countries in 2010. Its contribution was used to cofinance other IPEC-related activities in those countries. The goal was to ensure greater coherence between national plans and social dialogue mechanisms to combat child labour and share good practices.

Members of the ILO from the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) met with representatives of the ILO during the International Labour Conference in June 2014. Inter alia, they discussed the recent publication, "South-South and Triangular Cooperation in Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP): good practices in social protection and in combating child labour" (see link below to Portuguese version).
