Global youth unemployment continues to soar and informal employment leaves young people vulnerable in many developing and developed countries, preventing them from realizing their full economic potential and personal fulfillment, as well as leading to discouragement and skills mismatches.

This side event aims to showcase how governments, social partners and the ILO can help young people in the transition from school to work, close potential skills gaps and propel development. At the same time, participants will present the promotion of excellence in trades through participation in WorldSkills competitions and the importance of vocational education for their skills development and career opportunities.
