A meeting of Project Directors of NCLP's would be held on 20 August 2010 at SCOPE Complex, New Delhi. The Country Office is collaborating with the Ministry of Labour and Employment (MOLE), Government of India (GOI) on the event. The event expects the participation of Labour Secretaries and Labour Commissioners of the States. The Convergence Project strategies would be shared at the event.

A Knowledge Attitude Behaviour and Practice (KABP) survey was conducted amongst nurses and paramedical staff of Employees’ State Insurance Corporation of India (ESIC) on HIV and AIDS in January 2010. The findings indicated gaps in the knowledge of the nurses and paramedical staff. To address these gaps, the HIV and AIDS project is conducting a two-day Training on HIV and AIDS for the nurses and paramedical staff of ESIC.

Within the framework of the Project on Strengthening Labour Inspection Services in India, the Ministry of Labour and Employment (MoLE), Department of Labour Resources, Government of Bihar, A.N. Sinha has organized a Training-of-Trainers’ Workshop on Labour Inspection in Bihar, to strengthen the capacity in India to design and implement a systemic capacity building strategy for labour inspection in India.

Within the framework of the Project on Strengthening Labour Inspection Services in India, the Ministry of Labour and Employment (MoLE), V.V. Giri National Institute of Labour and the ILO will be organizing a Training-of-Trainers’ Workshop on Labour Inspection for senior trainers on labour inspection aimed at improving the training capacity of a selected number of institutions in India.

The Convergence Project, funded by the United States Department of Labour, is a joint initiative of the ILO and the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India, to develop models for elimination of child labour with the overall objective to contribute to the prevention and elimination of hazardous child labour, including trafficking and migration of children for labour. The Government, Workers, Employers, USDOL and ILO are joining together on 31 July to express commitment and concerted action to the elimination of child labour via a National Launch of the Project.
