Events and meetings

The ILO Decent Work Technical Support Team and Country Office for India (DWT/CO-New Delhi) organizes and takes part in a number of events and meetings in the sub-region. Below is a list of upcoming and past events. Any queries should be sent to the office by email.

  1. Zonal Meeting on Promotion of Equality at Work in India (manual scavenging part only)

    21 July - 8 September 2011

    To discuss challenges and problems manual scavengers and their family members face regarding occupational discrimination and for obtaining decent livelihood • To discuss and assess implementation of government policies and schemes which are available for rehabilitation of scavengers and demolition of dry latrines • To develop an action plan for elimination of manual scavenging with the inputs and suggestions of participants based on available schemes and in line with legislation in force.

  2. Strategic Planning Meeting with Employers

    The meeting will discuss a strategic approach to the delivery of Start and Improve Your Business project through employers’ organizations.

  3. Training of Trainers on HIV and AIDS for Trade Unions

    28 - 29 June 2011

    Training of Trainers’ on HIV and AIDS for Trade Union Representatives from unorganised sector.

  4. Working Group Meeting on Implementation of the Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Cess Act, 1996

    27 June 2011

    As a follow up to the Tripartite Consultation held in March 2011 to enhance implementation of the above Act, a Working Group has been constituted by the Ministry of Labour and Employment with ILO as the Convenor. The first meeting is held on 27 June to discuss standardization of the documents for implementation of the Act.

  5. Workshop on Convergence Based Approach to Prevent Bonded Labour in Uttar Pradesh

    22 June 2011

    1. To develop concrete strategies to deal the problem of bonded labour in UP, including strengthening the interstate coordination mechanism and online tracking of bonded labour. 2. To develop a workable financial inclusion mechanism to prevent family indebtedness and related vulnerability to bonded labour. 3. To discuss and finalize concrete, time - bound and result oriented action plan for UP for next 2-3 years.

  6. National consultative meeting on Vocational Training Action Programme

    21 June 2011

    This meeting aims to discuss and seek concurrence to the framework and strategy for the vocational training action programme.

  7. HIV and AIDS Policy Dissemination in Tamilnadu

    15 June 2011

    State Level Workshop to disseminate the National Policy on HIV and AIDS in Chennai, Tamilnadu

  8. World Day Against Child Labour

    12 June 2011

    Joint collaboration for promoting education for all children and for elimination of child labour

  9. Sensitization of Labour Recruiters in Brick Kiln sector

    9 - 10 June 2011

    The meeting aims to educate the recruiters on labour laws and deficiency in the present recruitment system and share the recommended workers pool/recruitment system idea and to gather inputs for field testing.

  10. First Meeting of the National Skills and Technical Vocational Eduction Training Data Working Group

    26 May 2011

    The ILO has initiated a study to review the sources and availability of skills development data and develop a proposal for a more coherent data system.
