Webinar on COVID-19 Protect children from child labour, now more than ever

ILO along with Ministry of Labour and Employment and VV Giri National Labour Institute worked organized a webinar on the occasion of World Day Against Child Labour.

This year, the World Day Against Child Labour 2020 focuses on the impact of COVID-19 crisis on child labour, which is reflected in the theme, ‘COVID-19: Protect children from child labour, now more than ever!

The COVID-19 health pandemic and the resulting economic and labour market shock are having a huge impact on people’s lives and livelihoods. Unfortunately, children are often the first to suffer. The crisis can push millions of vulnerable children into child labour. Governments around the world are taking wide-ranging actions to contain and mitigate the pandemic. Building on best practices, the right policy choices, and quick action to implement them, a better future can be built for our children.

In India, ILO is jointly organizing the WDACL 2020 with V.V. Giri National Labour Institute, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India on the global theme with the message to protect all children in or at risk of child labour and to ensure that they are a priority in the COVID-19 response.
