National workshop on World of Work: Issues and Challenges for Trade Unions in India

A two day national workshop for the central trade union leaders and representatives to develop a common understanding on the challenges/issues and to develop a work plan under the Decent Work Country Programme (DWCP) framework for the period 2019-2022.

The ILO Country Office for India and the ILO – Bureau for Workers’ Activities (ACTRAV) jointly organized a national workshop for the central trade unions inviting the senior leaders – Presidents and General Secretaries along with a representative of youth and women.

The objective of the workshop was to:
  • develop a common understanding of the trade unions on the issues such as, ILO Centenary Declaration, SDG implementation monitoring and UN Reform;
  • formulate a trade union strategy and action plan for ensuring effective involvement of the unions in the DWCP implementation;
  • analyse the government policies and steps on labour law amendment, tripartite practice and draw strategies for future advocacy;
  • develop a strategy to strengthen and scale up the women and youth participation at all level of TUs.
