Launch of the Skill Development Initiative for Domestic Workers/Household Assistant in India

The Delhi Government, the Ministry of Labour and Employment and ILO have joined hands to kick-start a pilot training programme to skill and re-skill domestic workers/household assistants across the Delhi and Noida region.

Objectives

Domestic work is an important source of employment in the Delhi/Noida area, as it is in other urban areas of India. It is an important source of regular paid employment in particular for women in the unorganized sector and it offers migrant workers, who have limited education and training, an easy entry into the labour market.
