Decent work for domestic workers
Domestic workers often face very low wages, long hours, and no guaranteed weekly rest days. At times they are also vulnerable to physical, mental and sexual abuse or restrictions on freedom of movement.
Domestic workers comprise a significant part of the global workforce in informal employment and are among the most vulnerable groups of workers. They perform a range of very important care work. It is important to recognize them as ‘workers’ who have equal rights such as —minimum wage, time off for rest, fixed working hours, and being treated with dignity among others.
