    On March 9 Lok Sabha passed the amendments to the Maternity Benefit Act. The bill is aimed at benefiting about 1.8 million women in the organized sector.

  3. Rajya Sabha passes the Maternity Benefit (Amendment) Bill, 2016

    On 11th August Rajya Sabha passed the amendments to the Maternity Benefit Act that seeks to provide 26 weeks of maternity leave to working women and 12 weeks to commissioning mothers. It also introduces an enabling provision of "work from home" for nursing mothers.

    'The Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Amendment Bill' makes employment of children below 14 years as cognizable offence for employers and provides for penalty for parents.

    The ILO Country Office for India and the Micro Small Medium Enterprise Technology Development Centre (MSME TDC) Agra, Ministry of MSME sign a Technical Collaboration Agreement on the 13th of June on ‘Sustaining Competitive and Responsible Enterprises’ (SCORE). The objective is to improve productivity and working conditions of the foundry units in India and to help enterprises participate better in the global supply chains.
