ILO action on child labour in South Asia

The ILO Decent Work Technical Support Team (DWT) provides support regarding Child Labour to ILO Country Offices in South Asia in the context of six Country Programme Outcomes (CPOs).

The DWT child labour portfolio’s focus consists of advisory services, support to ratifications, partnerships on child labour, programme development and support to implementation, and reinforcing the knowledge base on child labour.

Current Focus for DWT Child Labour:

  • Providing advisory services on policies and programmes to Country Offices, constituents and stakeholders;
  • Reinforcing and disseminating knowledge on Child Labour;
  • Developing programmes for countries, involving missions for in-country assessments and consultations;
  • Continuously reinforcing and validating the ILO South Asia’s strategy on child labour, in consultation with ILO constituents and partners, to support the ratification and application of ILO Child Labour Conventions;
  • Supporting partnerships on Child Labour, including the ILO constituents, the South Asia Coordinating Group on Action Against Violence Against Children (SACG) and the South Asia Initiative to End Violence Against Children (SAIEVAC);
