The forum was held to make the youth more sensitive to safe work issues, advocate opportunities for would-be specialists to introduce and implement the best practices in the area of occupational safety and health, industrial and fire safety, environment, occupational medicine and psychology, healthy lifestyle, personnel management.
How to engage the staff in a dialogue on HIV? How to create an atmosphere at work to enable people speak on their diagnosis without fear? Participants to the Youth Forum sought answers to these sensitive questions at a discussion entitled "If I knew a worker living with HIV, what I would ask him/her?"
Ekaterina Ivanova, ILO Moscow focal point for HIV/AIDS and the World of Work for the Russian Federation, moderated the discussion.
Svetlana Isambayeva, Polina Rodimkina and Alexandre Ezdakov responded to questions raised. They live with HIV and they have disclosed their HIV status. Now they are ambassadors of the VCT@WORK campaign.
“We all start to work as part of a team. Statistically, people find out their diagnosis when on the job. How and where can we reach out to workers and make them listen? Only at work”, Ekaterina Ivanova said.
