  4. Social protection in case of job loss: possible options to expand the coverage with unemployment protection programmes in Uzbekistan

    This national report was drafted under the guidance of the International Labour Organization (ILO) team within the UN Joint Programme on Social Protection in Uzbekistan funded by the Joint SDG Fund. The purpose of this report is to provide options for expanding the degree of coverage Uzbekistan’s unemployment protection programmes provide through a) the design of a general social insurance legal framework with an emphasis on strengthened unemployment insurance; and b) proposing options for a gradual extension of the coverage unemployment protection provides, starting with groups of workers in the informal economy that have the capacity to contribute. The report can serve as a background document to be used in deliberations as part of the Republican Tripartite Commission, working groups and policy makers drafting the Strategy for Social Protection for 2022-2030, Employment Strategy and Poverty Reduction Strategy to design measures aimed at strengthening protection against unemployment in the medium and long terms. Additionally, the report can be used by social partners to dovetail their actions and advocacy efforts.

  5. ILO Launches a Flagship Course for Social Partners to Boost Interaction with UN System

    On 8-24 September 2021, the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the International Training Center in Turin (ITCILO) organized an online training for social partners under the title of “Making the voices of social partners count in UN processes”. The course sought to build the capacities of the social partners in the sub-region to actively participate in the UN reform processes at the national level and meaningfully contribute to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

  6. ILO – Uzbekistan cooperation is on track: Decent Work Country Programme for 2021-2025 signed

    On 22 September the International Labour Organization (ILO) and its constituents in Uzbekistan – Government, employers’ and workers’ organizations – signed a Decent Work Country Programme (DWCP) for 2021-2025.

  7. Uzbekistan ratifies the Promotional Framework for Occupational Safety and Health Convention

    The Government of Uzbekistan has deposited the instrument of ratification of the Promotional Framework for Occupational Safety and Health Convention, 2006 (No. 187). The Convention is one of the key ILO instruments on workplace safety and health and commits countries to promote continuous improvement on the issue.

    Tashkent hosted a workshop on development of integrated social protection and active labour market services based on user-specific needs and improvement of electronic management information systems. The inception workshop was organized by the International Labour Organization (ILO) within the UN Joint Programme on Social Protection in Uzbekistan.

  10. Key principles of gender-responsive budgeting discussed in Uzbekistan

    The United Nations Joint Programme on Strengthening Social Protection in Uzbekistan conducted the sixth online webinar on gender equality. This time members of the Uzbek parliament, government agencies and ILO’s social partners got acquainted with the concept of gender-responsive budgeting, tools and international practices and discussed the ways to apply the concept to the budget and policy-making process in Uzbekistan.
