    On January 24, 2023, a technical working meeting was held online to validate the results of the analysis of the collective agreements of the sectoral trade unions of the two countries. The analysis focused on preventing the transition of formal jobs to the informal economy and entering into formal labour relations.

    Trade unions in Uzbekistan intend to raise public awareness of their activities and the benefits of joining trade unions. To this end, communication specialists from six sectoral trade unions in Uzbekistan were trained to improve their skills and knowledge in the field of social networks.

    On November 22, Usbekistan’s capital city of Tashkent hosted a presentation of a book by the former adviser to the Director-General of the International Labour Organization Kari Tapiola “Building confidence in the cotton fields: the activities of the International Labour Organization in Uzbekistan”.

  6. Gender-responsive diagnostics of the informal economy and employment in Uzbekistan – consultations with social partners

    On 9 November 2022, social partners and key national stakeholders participated in the inception workshop in Tashkent to discuss methodology for a gender-responsive diagnostics of the scope, incidence and drivers of the informal economy and employment.

  7. Government agencies, ILO and IMF experts discussed financing opportunities for social protection system in Uzbekistan

    The International Labour Organization (ILO) jointly with the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan with participation of representatives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) conducted in Tashkent a two-day training on financial management, fiscal space analysis and costing for social protection for the department specialists responsible for state budget, social protection, financial planning and monitoring.

  8. Uzbekistan: Better Work Feasibility Study results discussed with ILO constituents

    A mission of Better Work Programme visited Tashkent from 17 to 21 October 2022 to present results of the feasibility study conducted in 2022 and to hold consultations with the ILO constituents – government, employers’ and workers’ organizations.
