  3. Training for journalists in Georgia

    Eighteen journalists came together on November 17-18 in Borjomi, Georgia to discuss the impact of a series of ILO training courses on reporting on labour issues, and to identify possible next steps. The training was organized within the framework of the ILO Human Rights for All Project funded by the EU.

  4. Regional conference on Labour Inspection in NIS

    The ILO-ACTRAV, in cooperation with the Pan-European Regional Council of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC-PERC) organized a regional conference for the ITUC-PERC affiliates in the Newly Independent States (NIS) on 26-27 September in Tbilisi. The participants discussed challenges of effective functioning of the labour inspections to supervise implementation of labour and occupational health and safety standards. Taking part were trade union leaders, technical specialists and trade union labour inspectors from Eastern Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia.

  5. Training for Assistant Judges in Georgia

    Sixteen assistant judges came together on July 20-21 in Kasbeki, Georgia to learn how international labour standards can be used in resolving labour disputes in domestic courts. The training was organized within the framework of the ILO Project “Inclusive Labour Markets for Job Creation in Georgia”, funded by the Government of Denmark.

  7. President of Georgia assures ILO representatives of his full support to improving work safety and labour rights

    Today H.E. Giorgi Margvelashvili, President of Georgia, discussed labour safety issues with representatives of trade unions and the Inernational Labour Organization (ILO). The meeting focused on the recent tragic workplace incidents in coalmines in the city of Tkibuli, mechanisms for labour inspection to prevent such accidents and Georgian labour legislation that, according to President Margvelashvili, requires further improvement.

  8. Denmark and the ILO work together in Georgia to promote better jobs and entrepreneurship opportunities

    The Government of Denmark signed a 5-year development agreement with the International Labour Organization to strengthen labour law reform and compliance, promote youth entrepreneurship, formalize businesses and strengthen responsible business conduct in Georgia.

  9. Subregional conference sums up results of Youth Employment Project, identifies priorities for Phase 2

    TURIN (ILO News) - On 13-16 February, a sub-regional kick-off conference for the second phase of the ILO Project “Partnerships for Youth Employment in the CIS" was held. The second phase will be implemented in 2018-2022 by ILO Moscow with financial support of the Russian company LUKOIL.
