Girls at work: Insights from the NSO survey of working children

The survey data provides tremendous evidence about a number of things about work of men and women. The data dramatically shows that many of the issues and concerns of women in the workplace start at childhood when the girl child is introduced to the world of work.

The Philippines has had an extensive and severe problem of child labour. While there are some indications that the proportions of working children may have stabilized and possibly marginally declined in the past five years, the absolute numbers are said to be increasing given the country's high population growth rates.
