Rebuilding for health: Renovation of the mortuary at the Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Centre

Super Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) destroyed the Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Centre’s (EVRMC) facilities. Recognizing that health facilities are a community’s lifeline, the International Labour Organization (ILO), in partnership with the Latter-Day Saints Charities (LDSC), added their support to the reconstruction effort.

The ILO provided 38 workers (23 women, 15 men) with at least minimum wages, social security benefits, and accident and health insurance. In adherence to occupational safety and health standards, the workers were also supplied with personal protective equipment (PPE).
