Local resource-based works and skills training

Working out of disaster: Coron local resource-based works and skills training for communities affected by super typhoon Haiyan

The International Labour Organisation (ILO) partnered with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Regional Office 4B to enhance the livelihood opportunities of people in Barangays Decalachao, Guadalupe and Marcilla in Coron, and Barangays Bogtong, San Isidro, San Rafael, Buluang and Maglalambay in Busuanga.

Basic Skills Training Sessions were held on Carpentry and Masonry, including the construction of six model core shelters in collaboration with the Philippine Red Cross (PRC); carpentry, masonry and electrical works, including the construction of the Guadalupe Sawali Livelihood Centre, in collaboration with the partnership of Philippine Support Service Agencies (PHILSSA); and Assembly, Maintenance and Repair of Solar Street Lights and Solar Indoor Lights for the Guadalupe Sawali facilities, and for road sections cleared in Barangay Marcilla.
