Quest to reclaim ancestral domains

The quest to reclaim ancestral domains. A journey of hope: Implementing the Indigenous Peoples' Rights Act (IPRA) of the Philippines.

The International Labour Organization (ILO) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) collaborated in producing this book, which aims at improving policy and decision-making of public and private governance institutions through developing empirical evidence of issues relevant to the indigenous peoples of the Philippines.

The contents of this volume are based on case studies and a scoping report focusing on the recognition of ancestral domains in the Philippines.

The study is expected to serve as a basis for a review and improvement of the implementing rules and regulations (IRR) of the Indigenous Peoples' Rights Act (IPRA), the national law on indigenous peoples, which reflects the spirit and intent of ILO Convention No. 169, the Indigenous and Tribal Peoples Convention, 1989.
