Social protection through health micro-insurance

Extending social protection through health micro-insurance schemes to women in the informal economy: Gender strategy

This paper seeks to present possible strategies for ILO in extending social protection to women and men in the informal economy in the Philippines through gender-responsive health micro-insurance schemes.

Gender equality is an underlying principle toward equitable expansion of social security coverage. It is a key element in the International Labour Organization’s vision of Decent Work for All. The ILO is mainstreaming gender in all its policies and programmes as an approach toward gender equality at work.
