Towards peacebuilding and sustainable livelihoods in Zamboanga, Philippines

Armed conflict and the Zamboanga siege in 2013 left thousands of homes damaged and burned to the ground. The International Labour Organization (ILO) has been involved in helping families displaced by the conflict. With funding from the United Nations Peacebuilding Support Office (PBSO), the ILO focused on creating sustainable livelihood opportunities.

The project implemented skills training and enterprise development activities, while linking beneficiaries with the private sector and longer term employment opportunities. The ILO also assisted fishers and seaweed farmers with enterprise training and livelihood start-up kits with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
