Developing Strategies on Disaster-resilient Workspace

Objectives:

  • To capacitate Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) with a new service on disaster management.
  • To assist businesses in the Philippines with the ability to cope and bounce back from disasters.
  • To restore livelihoods in the Philippines by working with the private sector to maximize employment opportunities for impacted groups through creating and sustaining jobs.

Major activities and key outputs:

  • Develop a global mapping report on firm-level, local business community and business membership organization (BMO)-level response to disaster situations - Mapping done.
  • Conduct a 360 degrees private sector needs assessment in response to disaster situations and produce an analytical report with recommendations for ECOP - Private Sector Needs Assessment Report was launched on 14 May 2015.
  • Develop a strategy for ECOP and BMOs in the Philippines to prepare, respond and recover from disaster situations - Strategies developed.
  • Improve capacity of ECOP to identify services and representation it should offer to its members and businesses during disaster situations - ECOP’s capacity enhanced.
  • Develop product, service or strategy report building on information gathered from planning workshop - Enterprise Development, Growth and Enhancement -Business Continuity Plan (EDGE-BCP) training module targeting small and medium enterprise (SME) developed in response to the needs of private sector in preparation for disaster.
  • Build capacity of ECOP to utilize the developed product, service or strategy report to be a more effective and impactful actor in responding to disaster situations – consultation workshop and pilot testing of EDGE-BCP conducted.
