  1. ILO-Ifugao State University (IFSU) knowledge corner partnership

    18 May 2011

    The International Labour Organization (ILO) opened knowledge corners in schools, universities, and public libraries in the Philippines. Through a partnership with the ILO and the Ifugao State University (IFSU), the first provincial knowledge corner was established on 18 May 2011 in the northern region of the Philippines.

  2. Green Jobs-AP online discussion forum on policies, programs and measures to promote Green Jobs

    16 May - 5 June 2011

    This forum seeks participants’ experiences, expertise and feedback on the issue. Participation is open to all who have an interest in green jobs related issues.

  3. APYouthNet online discussion forum on the effects of labour migration policies on young people

    This forum seeks participants’ experiences, expertise and feedback on the issue. Participation is open to all who have an interest in youth employment related issues.

  4. Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB) Training of Master Trainers

    3 - 14 May 2011

    To address the growing demand for the ILO’s support to entrepreneurship training and enterprise development services as well as its sustainability, a Training of Master Trainors for the Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB) programme will be held on 4-13 May 2011 in the Philippines.

  6. Roundtable Discussion and Project Advisory Committee Meeting on Green Jobs Initiative

    10 March 2011

    The roundtable discussion presented the ILO’s Green Jobs Initiative and discussed green jobs activities in the Philippines, including the role of government, employers’ and workers organizations. The roundtable discussion was followed by a Project Advisory Committee meeting, whose agenda were devoted entirely on the launching of the Green Jobs in Asia Project.

  7. Local Economic Development Summit in Masbate

    The summit aims to integrate local economic development in the plans and programmes of Masbate. The summit is part of the MDG-F Joint Programme on Alternatives to Migration: Decent Work for Filipino Youth initiative, a programme designed to improve access to decent work for poor, young men and women, and to improve policy coherence and implementation in relation to young people, employment and migration, through greater participation.

  10. Mobile teachers educate "seasonal pupils"

    28 February 2011

    Children from rural areas often skip classes, while some even have to drop out-of-school to help their families in farms during harvest seasons. The Department of Education (DepED) said that these child labourers, tagged as "seasonal pupils", can still be saved through accessible educational services.

  11. Child labour monitoring system in Bukidnon

    21 - 24 February 2011

    The child labour monitoring system will provide an opportunity to regularly share information including required level of management among organizations, child labour advocates, and IPEC project partners.

  12. Child Labour Knowledge Sharing System Users Training

    21 February - 18 March 2011

    Nationwide training on the Child Labour Knowledge Sharing System, a new web portal for knowledge sharing and collaboration of all anti-child labour advocates.

  13. Child Labour Monitoring and Direct Beneficiaries Monitoring System Training and Presentation of Baseline Survey Results

    21 February - 18 March 2011

    The training aims to develop the Child Labor Monitoring System and referral system and discuss the Direct Beneficiaries Monitoring System on child labour.

  14. Building Peer Support for Return Migrants

    16 February 2011

    Former women migrants from the provinces of La Union, Nueva Ecija, Ilocos Sur and the National Capital Region attended a seminar-workshop recently in a purposive move to help themselves overcome negative migration experiences and hasten the readjustment and reintegration process.

  15. Ilocos Sur to Set Up Task Force for Migrants

    16 February 2011

    Ilocos Sur Vice Governor Deogracias Victor Savellano expressed his support to setup a provincial task force that will deal with issues affecting migrant workers in the province. The task force will essentially provide assistance on return and reintegration of migrant workers.

  16. Public Employment Service Office Managers' Training on Access to Phil-JobNet

    15 February 2011

    Training on the Phil-JobNet website to promote access to job opportunities. Phil-JobNet is an internet-based job and applicant matching system which aims to fast track jobseekers for job opportunities and employers search for manpower. It is the centralized-database facility of the Department of Labor and Employment.

  17. ILO-FAO and Municipal Working Group Planning Workshop

    10 - 11 February 2011

    The activity is aimed at promoting participatory management, enhancing coordination and planning process at the local government level and heightening the sense of ownership and responsibilities of the partners to the project.

  18. ILO-De La Salle University (DLSU) knowledge corner partnership

    31 January 2011

    On 31 January 2011, Mr Lawrence Jeff Johnson, CO-Manila Director, Br. Ricardo Laguda FSC, DLSU Chancellor, and Ms Ana Maria Fresnido, University Library Director formally signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on the ILO-DSLU knowledge corner partnership.

  19. Asia-Pacific Knowledge Sharing Network on Youth Employment (APYouthNet): Rejuvenation Event

    APYouthNet will host a rejuvenation event to take stock of the progress made in the community since its launch two years ago.

  20. Forum Highlights Good Practices to Protect Migrants

    11 January 2011

    Community-level mechanisms to protect and promote the rights of migrant workers in the Philippines and Thailand were showcased in a roundtable discussion (RTD) at the ILO Auditorium on 11 January 2012. Chaired by POEA Administrator Hans Cacdac, the RTD highlighted local good practices in both countries, as presented by implementing partners of the ILO-EU Project on Return and Reintegration.
