The ILO Country Office for the Philippines organizes and takes part in a number of events and meetings. Below is a list of upcoming and past events. Any queries should be sent to the office by email.

  1. Workshop on Adopting a Roadmap to Eliminate Child Labour in Domestic Work in the Philippines

    20 - 22 January 2015

    The aim of the activity is to come up with a overarching framework and plan that would guide policies and programmes and their implementation in ensuring that there is no child labour in domestic work in the Philippines.

  1. ILO and ECOP Capacitate MSMEs on Labour Law Compliance through Social Dialogue in Cebu City

    25 - 26 November 2014

    Recognizing the key role of micro small and medium scale enterprises (MSMEs) in the Philippine economy and the challenges they face in complying with minimum labour standards, the ILO in partnership with the Employers’ Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) conducted a series of two-day training workshops on “ Capacitating Employers to Implement the Labour Law Compliance System (LLCS) through Social Dialogue”.

  2. ASEAN Regional Conference of Senior Official on Strengthening the Protection and Empowerment of Women Migrant Workers

    13 November 2014 - 22 December 2015

    ASEAN Regional Conference of Senior Official on Strengthening the Protection and Empowerment of Women Migrant Workers is held on 13-14 November 2014 in Quezon City, Philippines. The ILO ATP in collaboration with the ASEAN Committee on Women (ACW) and ASEAN Commission on the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Women and Children (ACWC) convened a Conference among senior officials, with special focus on vulnerable groups of female migrant workers: those in domestic work, those who are victims of forced labour and trafficking, and those who are in the midst of crisis situations in destination countries. The Conference strengthened regional coordination and information sharing for the protection and empowerment of women migrant workers, and increased knowledge on and promoted gender-responsive labour migration policies and programs in both labour sending and receiving states in ASEAN. The Conference concluded with recommendations to enhance migration policies and programs affecting women migrant workers in ASEAN.

  4. Municipal Local Government Units Orientation Seminar on the Programme on Local Economic Development for Enhanced Governance and Grassroots Empowerment (PLEDGE)

    7 November 2014

    The PLEDGE programme conducted an orientation seminar to present the programme overview, conceptual and operating framework and explain the role of Bangsamoro Development Authority (BDA).

    Conference: “Insights into the migration of health professionals between the Philippines, India and Viet Nam to Europe”

    7 November 2014

    The International Labour Organization (ILO) and the European Union (EU) jointly organize a final conference on the project “Promoting Decent Work Across Borders: A Project for Migrant Health Professionals and Skilled Workers”.

  7. Launching of TESDA Skills and Livelihood Training Programme in Calubian, Leyte

    24 October 2014

    The International Labour Organization (ILO), in partnership with Save the Children and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Region VIII (TESDA R-8), implemented a series of skills development training courses on carpentry and food processing. The Skills Livelihood Training Programme was supported by the Department for International Development UK (DFID).

    16 - 17 October 2014

    A two-day training programme on the principles of and business case for ethical recruitment practices for recruitment agencies catering to international migrants and health professionals in particular for Philippines, India and Viet Nam recruitment agencies.

  9. Philippine Launch and High-level National Policy Dialogue on the ASEAN Community 2015: Managing Integration for Better Jobs and Shared Prosperity

    8 October 2014

    The ILO and the Asian Development Bank, with support from the ASEAN Secretariat conducted a study on ASEAN Community 2015: Managing integration for better jobs and shared prosperity. The report with the Philippine Country Brief was launched in a high-level national policy dialogue.

  11. Training on the Roles and Responsibility of Government Officials in Promoting Ethical Recruitment Practices (In Viet Nam)

    29 - 30 September 2014

    A two-day training programme on the roles and responsibilities of migration relevant government officials in the promotion of ethical recruitment for migrant workers, and health professionals in particular for Philippines, India and Viet Nam migration government officials was conducted in Hanoi, Viet Nam.

  12. Working Out of Disasters: Job-led Growth after Typhoon Bopha (Pablo)

    25 September 2014

    The Philippines experiences at least 20 typhoons in a year and much can be learned on the importance of putting livelihood at the forefront of recovery. The International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Australian Government will bring together community leaders from areas hit by Typhoon Bopha (also named Pablo) in a forum to discuss a people and job-centered approach to disaster response.

    A two-day training programme on the roles and responsibilities of migration relevant government officials in the promotion of ethical recruitment for migrant workers, and health professionals in particular for Philippines, India and Viet Nam migration government officials was conducted in the Philippines.

  15. National Tripartite Preparatory Meetings for 7th ASEAN Forum on Migrant Labour (AFML)

    16 September - 20 October 2014

    National Tripartite Preparatory Meetings for 7th ASEAN Forum on Migrant Labour (AFML) from September to November 2014 was held in several ASEAN member states to take stock on progress to date and implementation of previous forums’ recommendations at the national level, to discuss the 7th AFML’s proposed theme, and to prepare recommendations for the 7th AFML.   16. Regional Training on Strategic Management and Negotiations for ASEAN Labour Attaches

    8 - 12 September 2014

    Regional Training on Strategic Management and Negotiations for ASEAN Labour Attaches was held on 8-12 September 2014 in Makati City, Philippines. This labour attaché training programme is delivered by the ATP and the Asian Institute of Management to support the capacity of labour attachés and consular officials in ASEAN. The programme will provide participants with information on international labour standards relevant to the protection of migrant workers, the ability to effectively negotiate with different stakeholders, and joint decision makings, as well as the opportunity to network with other officials for future cooperation.

  17. Programme for Local Economic Development through Enhanced Governance and Grassroots Empowerment (PLEDGE) Training of Trainers

    2 - 5 September 2014

    The objectives of the training are: (a) to train project staff and trainers from service providers of the pilot projects on the concept of training under the PLEDGE methodology; (b) to familiarize the trainers on the preparation and submission of training reports needed for documentation and monitoring; and (c) to train the PLEDGE project staff on enterprise development training on transitional approach for the PLEDGE project.

    A two-day training programme on the roles and responsibilities of migration relevant government officials in the promotion of ethical recruitment for migrant workers, and health professionals in particular for Philippines, India and Viet Nam migration government officials was conducted in India.

  19. The Regional Skills Programme: Taking stock and mapping the way forward

    24 - 25 July 2014

    The current event is organized as follow-up to the 2012 meeting. It will provide an opportunity to take stock on the progress towards established goals, as well as re-affirm priorities and/or establish new priorities. It will also provide an opportunity to examine what works and what does not work with regard to knowledge sharing.
