Events, meetings and trainings

The ILO Country Office for the Philippines organizes and takes part in a number of events and meetings. Below is a list of upcoming and past events. Any queries should be sent to the office by email.

  1. National Workers Conference on Addressing Precarious Work in the Philippines

    7 - 8 December 2015

    The International Labour Organization, through the ILO Bureau for Workers' Activities (ILO-ACTRAV), together with the Federation of Free Workers will hold a “National Workers Conference on Addressing Precarious Work in the Philippines”. The event aims to contribute towards strengthening the organizational capacities of the unions and workers’ organizations for promoting actions for Decent Work for workers in precarious and informal employment relations. In addition, it aims to assist unions in the Philippines to develop national strategy to address Precarious Work in the Philippines.

  2. Academy on Workplace Compliance through Labour Inspection

    30 November - 11 December 2015

    The objectives of the workshop are: (a) to gain new insights, share experiences and reflect on key issues, trends and challenges relating to workplace compliance through labour inspection; and (b) to share ILO Country Office previous and future interventions to strengthen workplace compliance.

  3. Training of Trainers (ToT) on Freedom of Association (FoA) for Women in the Export Processing Zones (EPZs)

    27 - 29 November 2015

    Targeting trade union federations and confederations, the ToT will focus on a core group of trainers of women unionists in EPZs. It shall focus discussions on international labour standards and applicable local laws on on freedom of association and collective bargaining using the localized manual developed by the ILO.

  4. Validation Workshop on Workers' Needs and Challenges in Disaster Settings

    19 November 2015

    The workshop aims at sharing findings from the Employment Promotion in Disaster Response Project (EPDR Project) research and deepen the understanding of trade unions needs through an interactive discussion among relevant stakeholders.

  5. Validation and Knowledge Sharing Workshop on Department of Education Policy on Child Labour

    3 - 5 November 2015

    The USDOL-funded Country Level Engagement and Assistance to Reduce Child Labour (CLEAR) Project will the conduct a National Consultative and Knowledge Sharing Workshop on Education and Child Labour on 3 to 5 November 2015. The purpose of the activity is to discuss and validate a policy on addressing child labour within the education system that will be issued by the Department of Education.

  6. First National Summit on Labour Laws Compliance Systems (LLCS)

    27 - 29 October 2015

    The Summit was part of the ILO and United States’ Department of Labor Project on Building the Capacity of the Philippines’ Labour Inspectorate aimed at providing social partners a platform for reviewing the first two years of implementation of the Labour Laws Compliance System (LLCS).

  7. Contract Signing for SALT Implementation in Kananga, Leyte

    24 October 2015

    The International Labour Organization (LO), in partnership with the Mahawan Farmers Association (MFA) and with the support of the UK Department for International Development (DFID), implemented a Sloping Agriculture Land Technology (SALT) sub-project in the Municipality of Kananga, Leyte.

  8. Culminating Event of ILO's Haiyan Response in Tacloban and Samar

    22 October 2015

    The International Labour Organization (ILO) Emergency Employment and Livelihood Recovery (EELR) Project for Super Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) and Typhoon Hagupit (Ruby) draws to a close in October 2015. In commemoration of the occasion, the Project Offices in Tacloban and Samar will hold a culminating event to bring together partners in Tacloban and Samar to share insights and lessons learned from their post-Haiyan and Ruby experience.

  9. Promoting Collective Bargaining and Social Dialogue at the Enterprise Level

    19 - 21 October 2015

    As a continuation of the Consultation-Workshop on Policy Reforms and Collective Bargaining held in the early part of the 2015, the seminar-workshop on Promoting Collective Bargaining and Social Dialogue at the Enterprise level was conducted on 28-30 September 2015 to continuously promote sound and productive labor-management relations at the enterprise level and develop enterprise-based inputs into the labor relations proposals to the Labor Code and roadmap for reform.

  10. Beyond the Enterprise: Social Dialogue and Tripartism for Better Policy Making

    19 - 21 October 2015

    Tripartite constituents gathered together to explore industry-based collective bargaining, tripartism and social dialogue in the Philippines. The approach adopted the training workshop format to provide venue for continuing discussions that generated recommendations, building on the outputs and policy proposals of previous consultations. Previous consultations explored sample models of multi-employer bargaining in different countries and the feasibility of applying elements of these models to the Philippines.

  11. Culminating Event of ILO's Haiyan Response in Coron, Palawan

    19 October 2015

    As the International Labour Organization (ILO) Super Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) Response drew to a close at the end of October 2015, the Project Office in Palawan organized a half-day culminating activity on 19 October. At this, the team showcased the results of the collaborative efforts of the ILO and its implementing partner organizations, and campaigned for the commitment of stakeholders in sustaining these initial investments.

  12. Culminating Event on Building Resiliency and Strengthening Partnerships: Livelihoods at the Forefront of Recovery After Super Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) - Northern Cebu

    15 October 2015

    The International Labour Organization (ILO), together with the implementing partners in Northern Cebu, held a project culminating event entitled “Building Resiliency and Strengthening Partnerships: Livelihood at the Forefront of Recovery After Haiyan” on 15 October 2015 in San Remigio. The event featured the project results and interventions reaching out to almost 7,000 workers and 35,000 family members who were affected by Super Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda).

  13. Five-day Course on Evolving Forms of Employment Relationships and Decent Work

    5 - 9 October 2015

    In the national context of ongoing debates relating to pending legislations and proposals of labour law reforms, the ILO CO-Manila, in partnership with the International Training Centre ILO (ITC-ILO) and the Bureau of Labor Relations (BLR), conducted a five-day course on “Evolving Forms of Employment Relationships and Decent Work”.

  14. Understanding Company Financial and Management Information for Collective Bargaining

    29 - 30 September 2015

    The ILO’s Bureau for Workers Activities (ACTRAV), in collaboration with ILO CO-Manila, organized a national workshop for trade unions on the topic ‘Understanding company financial and management information for collective bargaining’ on 29-30 September 2015. Mr Arun Kumar, ILO Workers Specialist will lead the discussions.

  15. Assessment Based National Dialogue: Expanded Core Group Costing Workshop

    28 - 29 September 2015

    The final Rapid Assessment Protocol (RAP) workshop was conducted on September 28 and 29 to wrap up the costing stage of the Assessment Based National Dialogue (ABND).

  16. All Employers Forum on Minimum Wage Fixing Guidelines for Domestic Workers

    25 September 2015

    ILO provides technical and financial assistance to the Employers’ Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) to conduct an All Employers’ Forum to provide a broader platform for its employer constituents to raise awareness on the new rules of procedures on the minimum wage fixing for domestic workers, as well as the advisory on competency-based wage for domestic workers, which was issued by the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) in August 2014 and February 2015 respectively.

  17. Presentation of the Community-based Enterprise Development (C-BED) Outputs (Internally Displaced Peoples Business Plans) to National Organizations and Local Government of Zamboanga City

  18. UN for All: Training of Facilitators

    17 - 23 September 2015

    The ILO, as convenor of the inter-agency UN Cares Working Group (UNCWG), will participate in the training of country-level facilitators for the new UN for All workshop modules.

  19. Discussion Towards the Development of a Roadmap Towards Impact Assessment of Batas Kasambahay: Regular Meeting of the Philippine Technical Working Group on Decent Work for Domestic Workers (Domestic Work TWG)

    11 September 2015

    Tripartite- plus members of Domestic Work TWG will convene to meet and present the results that transpired during the “Stakeholders’ Workshop towards a Participatory Impact Assessment of Domestic Workers’ Situation in the Philippines” in April 2015. ILO will present the summary of results based from the final report prepared by the Technical Team commissioned by ILO to facilitate and document the entire process.

  20. Livelihood Centre Inaugurated in Medellin, Northern Cebu

    8 September 2015

    A one-storey training and enterprise centre, built in collaboration with Child and Women in Cebu Empowerment Inc. (CWCE), was inaugurated on 8 September 2015 in Barangay Kawit, Municipality of Medellin, Northern Cebu.
