Webinar on Socially Responsible Labour Practices and RBC Related Policies to Support Business in Times of Crisis and Recovery

About ten months since the first webinar last July 2020, this activity aims to find out the current state of the COVID 19 situation and actions implemented so far by the different sectors to address the challenges particularly on labour and employment and learn about CSR/RBC strategies taken by particular business enterprises for sustainability and inch their way towards recovery.

Background 

Though many parts of the Philippine have started to try returning to normal conditions,  the  COVID 19  pandemic continues to threaten  the people’s health and more so, their social and economic lives.  Its impact on the labour market particularly on the quantity and quality of jobs is a concern that needs urgent attention.    Enterprises continue to struggle on how to sustain their existence and operations.

In July 2020, the RSCA project in partnership with ECOP has undertaken the Webinar on Responsible and Sustainable Business in times of COVID 19. This activity which was carried out about four months after the COVID 19 has started to shatter the country’s economy mostly brought about by the lockdowns in most parts of the country. The webinar  focused on the relevance of socially responsible labour practices in the time of the COVID-19 crisis . It discussed the impacts of the pandemic on Philippine supply chains and in general in its economy. Moreover, it also presented an outlook on the impact that this pandemic has had on global supply chains and discussed policy guidelines as well as practical examples on how enterprises and the government is addressing the current crisis.

Objectives

The webinar aims to:

  • Provide updated information on the extent of impact and challenges brought about by  COVID 19 crisis on global supply chains particularly on labour and employment almost a year  after the start of the pandemic
  • Provide updated information on programs and policy guidelines implemented by the government to cushion the effect of the pandemic on labour and employment
  • Promote  better awareness and understanding  on the relevance of socially responsible business practices in  to strengthen response to COVID challenges
  • Highlight models  practical examples on how specific enterprises  have been addressing the crisis and their strategies towards recovery
