APEC “Healthy Women, Healthy Economies” Experts Group Meeting: Developing a “Policy Toolkit” to Enhance Women’s Economic Participation by Improving Women’s Health

The ILO Country Office for the Philippines Director Lawrence Jeff Johnson participated as one of the panelists to discuss Why the need to invest in “Healthy Women, Healthy Economies”?

The ILO CO-Manila Director Johnson explained the existing gender gap in labour force participation, globally and in South-East Asia. Moreover, Director Johnson emphasized the need to promote key ILO Conventions in order to increase women’s productivity and address work-life balance. Other panelists in the session include Ms Helen Hai, CEO of the Made in Africa Initiative and UNIDO Ambassador, and Ms Caryn Bredenkamp, Senior Economist from the World Bank.
